Written by Marjan Saptari, Perspolis: The Story of a Childhood graphic novel is the first ever Iranese comics. A non fiction series that follows the true accounts that started from a 9 year old Marjane, to her early adult years, marriage, and divorce.

Persepolis graphic novel was first published by L'Association in 2000 and later on by Pantheon Books. It became an instant success and earned notable awards. In 2007, the film Persepolis was released based on the graphic novel.
